Septic System Installation

New Septic Systems in Ocala

A new septic system is the whole onsite treatment train, the tank, the distribution box, and the drainfield, sized so wastewater is treated and dispersed into the ground without ever surfacing. Backyardbarter designs and installs conventional gravity systems for Ocala homes, most three-bedroom houses taking a 1,000 to 1,250 gallon watertight tank feeding a properly sized field.

Why Sizing From the Soil Matters

Tank size follows bedroom count, but the drainfield follows the dirt. Ocala’s sand-over-limestone soil drains fast in places and holds water in others, and the summer table climbs during the June to September rains. We size the field from the percolation rate and the seasonal high water table so treated effluent has the four feet of separation to groundwater the code requires, rather than backing up in a wet August.

Our Process

We start with a soil profile and perc test, size the tank and field to those numbers, and carry the permit through the Marion County health department. Then we set the tank on a level bearing surface, seal the joints with a butyl gasket, build the drainfield, screen the outlet with an effluent filter, and set riser lids near grade. When the county passes the final inspection, we file the as-built record. Most installs near 34480 run a handful of days, weather permitting.
