Perc Test and Site Evaluation

Perc Testing and Site Evaluation in Ocala

Before a shovel touches the ground, the soil has to answer two questions: how fast does water drain, and how high does the seasonal water table climb. A percolation test and soil profile answer both, and the numbers set the drainfield size the Marion County health department will permit. Backyardbarter runs the perc and site evaluation for new builds, lot purchases, and failing systems across Ocala.

Why the Test Comes First

Ocala’s sand-over-limestone soil is not uniform, and the summer table rises through the June to September rains. A dry-day guess can put a field where it will surface in August. The perc test measures the real drainage rate, and the soil profile reads the mottling that marks the seasonal high water table, so we know whether a conventional gravity field will hold four feet of separation or the parcel needs an aerobic or mound system.

Our Process

We dig the test holes, saturate and time the drainage, and log a soil profile down through the horizons. Then we translate those readings into a permitted drainfield size and system type, whether the lot sits near 34471 in town or out on rural acreage. You get a clear evaluation you can build from or hand to a buyer, not a vague verbal read.
